Construction is top-notch for it’s price and features a dark, oily wrapper, with no visual defects. The band looks interesting.
The aroma of the Antaño 1970 Gran Reserva Gran Consul is strong and earthy, with notes of leather and spice. On the palate, the smoke is smooth and creamy, with hints of sweet cedar, milk chocolat, mild spices and a slight nuttiness on the finish. The draw was very thight, but vasty improved after a recut. While the burn was near perfect, the cigar produced no more than a modest amount of smoke.
In short, the Joya de Nicaragua Antaño 1970 Gran Reserva Gran Consul is an exceptional cigar, especialy considering it’s price-range, and is undoubtly able to please even the most discerning cigar aficionado.
